  13.   If aliens exist, they're purpose is being fulfilled.  If they do not,
  14. the government's is.  All you people are constantly doing is cursing each
  15. other out, calling this guy an asshole, telling this dude to fuck off. 
  16. You get one guy saying Star Trek is a bunch of shit.  The Star Trek vision
  17. of the future is so intensly optimistic it is ridiculous to ever belive
  18. the inhabitants of this planet will ever reach that level of over-all
  19. peace, with themselves, let alone other species from other planets.

  21.   I saw ID4 3 times already.  Is the script lame?  It's certainly nothing
  22. special.  Is the acting horrible?  There has been far worse (Plan Nine
  23. From Outer Space for instance), and there has been far better.  Are the
  24. special effects amazing?  I haven'
  25. t seen anyone deny that atleast.
  26.   One thing ID4 does, which is impossible to do it seems in this newgroup,
  27. is to get everyone feeling the same things (for the most part), and
  28. wanting to band together for a common purpose.  Look, we can argue all
  29. fucking year long about wether UFOs exist, do not exist, etc.  I'm not
  30. here to say one way or another.  I'm just an ordinary guy who is
  31. extrememly curious about what the truth in these matters are.  All 3 shows
  32. that I went to of ID4, everyone in the audience wanted to kick some alien
  33. ass.  Is this necasserily a good thing?  Well, if a peacful race of aliens
  34. landed and wanted to chat, and a bunch of gun-toting idiots blew them all
  35. to hell, that would seriously suck.  But then again, if the aliens had
  36. intentions that were othber than friendly, you'd all be thanking the
  37. hillbillies with their shotguns that saved your asses.
  38.   The point is, ID4 brings people together, wether the purpose for which
  39. they are together is good or not.  This in itself is not a good thing,
  40. since Hitler did the same thing, and I doubt too many people are going to
  41. say that Hitler was a good thing for Germany of the rest of the world. 
  42. But since we lack absolute knowledge about wether aliens exist or not, it
  43. seems fairly safe to band people together with the condept of fighting
  44. aliens which may or may not exist at all.  You try getting 500 people
  45. together in any one concept, see how hard it is, if not impossible.  ID4
  46. manages to do it, and for that, it's a good movie.

  48.    I wish all you people would stop being so closed-mined, while at the
  49. same time claiming to be open-minded.  You see, being open-minded within
  50. defined paramaters is by definition being closed-minded.  That's what most
  51. of you people do.  You'll be open-minded about the existance of aliens if
  52. you have a basic belief in them to begin with.  THAT'S CLOSED MINDED YOU

  55.     This newsgroup COULD be one of the most important avenues of knowledge
  56. that we have on the subject, but instead it's turned into an immense joke
  57. by people who can't even think logically.  And yes, I know I will be
  58. flamed to hell for this, or worse yet, just ignored, but at this point, it
  59. really dosen't matter.  This newsgroup is such an immense waste it's not
  60. even funny.  It's sad is what it is, because it could be something much
  61. greater.

  64. then, between the miles-high piles of bullshit that is expounded, there is
  65. one person with a reasonable idea that should be considered and discussed.

  67. does, it's a breathe of fresh air.
